About Us
Cavendish & Cole Traditional Sash Windows
Cavendish & Cole is a specialist joinery company dedicated to the design, manufacture, and restoration of timber sash windows and bespoke wooden doors. Based in the heart of Sussex and serving homeowners and developers across Kent, Surrey, and the South East, we are committed to preserving the craftsmanship of traditional British joinery while embracing modern glazing technologies.
Our team brings decades of experience in working with heritage properties, listed buildings, and period homes. From Georgian townhouses and Victorian terraces to Edwardian villas, we understand the architectural significance of timber sash windows and the care required to repair, replace or replicate them. Every project is handled with meticulous attention to detail, using sustainable hardwoods and premium materials such as Accoya and oak.
All joinery is produced in-house at our Sussex workshop by skilled craftsmen who take pride in traditional techniques, from mortise and tenon joints to hand-finished glazing bars. We also offer a complete installation service, meaning your project benefits from consistent quality from start to finish.
We work closely with conservation officers, architects, and planning departments, particularly when it comes to replacing windows in listed buildings or within conservation areas. Our range includes Slimlite double glazing, Spacia glass, and traditional single-glazed units, allowing us to provide modern performance while maintaining historical integrity.
At Cavendish & Cole, we believe in blending the old with the new — offering durable, beautiful, and energy-efficient solutions that respect the past while protecting the future. Our reputation has been built on trust, attention to detail, and a genuine love for what we do.
If you’re looking for expert sash window restoration, custom timber windows or doors, or need help navigating a complex planning application, we are here to help every step of the way.

Martha
Lewes, East SussexWe couldn’t be happier with the service from Cavendish & Cole. From the initial consultation to the final installation, the team were professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft. They replaced several sash windows in our Victorian home, perfectly matching the original profiles while upgrading to Slimlite double glazing. The quality of the joinery is outstanding, and the finish is immaculate. The installation team were tidy, respectful, and a pleasure to have around. It’s rare to find a company that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern efficiency so well. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Absolutely first-class.
